SEO: Search Engine Optimization |
The term "search engine optimization" at its basic level refers to any successful strategy that lists your website in a more favorable position in Google (or Bing and Yahoo). The advantage of "SEO" is of course that you will receive MANY more "hits" (visitors) to your website. These new prospects will see your sales page, view your offers and consider you when they are purchasing your service or product (which is probably soon since they are searching). SEO needs to be performed on a number of levels. The two most basic levels are called "on-page" and "off-page" SEO. "On-Page" SEO simply means all of the strategies that can be used on your website to make you more visible and attractive to the search engines. We generally call this becoming "search engine friendly". We want to give the search engine "spiders" (the automated robots that look at your site) exactly what they want to see... both on the surface (the words, style, etc.) and behind the scenes (html coding, tags and scripts), which only their "robots" can see. "Off-Page" SEO are all of the strategies that are employed to draw attention to your website or to gain "links" to your website. These are very complex techniques. This is where we develop other, smaller sites that are used to "drive traffic" to your main site. In the internet marketing business, this "main site" is referred to as the "money site". "Off-Page" SEO also refers to (and we employ to its fullest) techniques like link-building, article marketing, landing page development, social media domination, online press release announcements and strategies that are so effective and proprietary that we can't mention them here! I've tried to simplify this as much as possible, but please realize that all of these strategies are very complex and require technical as well as marketing expertise. Hopefully now, you've got a basic understanding of what is meant by the term "SEO". |
